Naz Shah, the Bradford West MP accused of antisemitism, has been suspended from the Labour party “by mutual agreement” after David Cameron said it was “extraordinary” that someone who appeared to have suggested Israelis should be deported to the US continued to hold the Labour whip.
Jeremy Corbyn had earlier said he would not suspend the MP, who then issued a “heartfelt apology” in the House of Commons.
His aides defended her, saying the comments were antisemitic but the MP had “shocked herself” and did not mean what she said, so she could not be described as antisemitic.
But little more than two hours later, Labour announced that Shah had been suspended “by mutual agreement” while claims against her were investigated by Labour’s national executive committee.
A Labour party spokesman said on Wednesday: “Jeremy Corbyn and Naz Shah have mutually agreed that she is administratively suspended from the Labour party by the general secretary.
“Pending investigation, she is unable to take part in any party activity and the whip is removed.”

Yes, the comments were antisemitic, but as she had shocked herself, then she couldn't be antisemitic.

That cracked me up too. I can't stand Muslims but as I've 'shocked myself' I'm alright again now and declared fit to carry on slagging them off. Hahahaha

The difference between her original apology and the one released by Labour was astounding. Almost like they didn't want her to go into too much detail about anti-semitism

My old Dad (a lifelong Labour supporter and Jewish) would be spinning in his grave....had he been buried. I don't think I can bring myself to vote for a Labour party with Corbyn in charge.
Am saddened by all this.

I'm getting confused. If you are anti-Israel are you automatically anti-Semitic?
I can't see how any left winger can accept the actions of the Israeli State, just like they cannot accept Saudi Arabia's policies

Alpha thing is what she said about sending Israelis to America is making the assumption that all Israelis support policy regarding Palestinians. Labour has to recognise that its support comes from various sections of the community and uniting them. They can't do that if they are seen to support statements of the type she made.

Deb's , what she said was wrong and fantasy rubbish, she wasn't an MP . It shows she is a bit thick, as it's impossible to move a country to another one.
I was referring to Newsnight, it seems any criticism of Israel is being stamped out as anti-Semitic .
Yet Israel has been ruled by the right wing for a decade or more.
Why should any left wingers support that govt?

Yes I take your point with that, when they got close to peace one of their own on the right snuffed it out by killing Rabin
My issue is that Corbyn has way too much sympathy with every antinIsraeli sentiment. He cannot bre doing that.
